Transforming Lives Through Love: A Charity Fountain Build for the Isaiah 117 House

In the heart of a quiet community, a powerful mission thrives—the Isaiah 117 House. This nonprofit exists to provide love, safety, and comfort to children entering the foster care system. These children, often thrust into the unknown with nothing but a black trash bag of belongings, find themselves surrounded by love and care within the walls of this extraordinary home.

The Isaiah 117 House is more than a shelter; it’s a place of transformation. It offers warm meals, cozy beds, and shelves of brand-new clothes, toys, and school supplies. Most importantly, it offers these children something many have never felt: unconditional love. For volunteers like Andrea Townsend, every small act—a folded shirt, a heartfelt hug, or even a hot meal—is a reminder that these children are worthy of love and dignity.

This mission resonated deeply with our team at Modern Design Aquascaping Inc. and our nonprofit, the Sawyer Mason Foundation. We knew we could bring something special to their space—a place of serenity and reflection for the children, staff, and volunteers alike. That’s when the idea for a custom fountain feature came to life.

The Fountain: Building Hope, One Stone at a Time

Creating this fountain was more than just a build; it was a labor of love. Each element was chosen with intention, designed to evoke peace and connection to nature. We started with hand-selected, weathered boulders from Missouri, chosen for their natural textures and shapes. At our Modern Design facility, these stones were meticulously drilled, shaped, and prepared to create the perfect layout before assembly.

The fountain spans a 15’ x 15’ footprint, featuring an underground reservoir capable of holding approximately 350 gallons of water. Sustainability was a key consideration, so the system is designed to be fed by rainwater, with an overflow mechanism that connects to the rooftop drainage system to handle heavy rains.

The water flows gracefully, powered by an adjustable pump that operates at 4,000 gallons per hour but can be increased to 8,000 gallons per hour for a more dynamic effect. The fountain is accented with cedar driftwood, moss, and natural roots, seamlessly blending it into its surroundings. At night, the feature comes alive with LED lighting, creating a magical, illuminated display that inspires awe and peace.

This fountain now stands as a centerpiece in the Isaiah 117 House—a serene escape for the children, staff, and volunteers. The gentle sound of cascading water whispers, “You are valued,” while its presence fosters healing and reflection amid the challenges these individuals face.

At Modern Design Aquascaping Inc., we believe in creating more than just water features; we believe in creating moments of connection, healing, and hope. This fountain is a testament to what is possible when a community comes together with love and purpose.

Diving Into The Details

This project is a totally custom built feature! Our team hand-selects these boulders because of their unique shapes & the “weathered” effect that creates the coolest natural-stone fountain-scapes. They are then transported from Missouri to the Modern Design facility where we design the features & drill the stones out in our production area. The stones are puzzled together on location to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece like the one in this video. There is no limit to the size and scope our team can create these at! The fountains are blended together with natural materials like cedar driftwood, roots, and moss to create a feature that is then further enhanced by the addition of LED lighting that makes it even more magical to witness at night! The footprint of this particular fountain is around 15’ x 15’. It holds about 350 gallons of water below the ground, can be fed by rainwater, and over-flows into the drainage system from the rooftops to carry away excess water during heavy rains. The system runs with an adjustable flow pump that can run at a subtle 4000 gallons per hour or be cranked up via remote to double that flow rate for a more exciting experience.
